    2008-2009, ‘Enhance the Capacity of Monitoring Shared Water Resources of Lake Tanganyika’ (ECMWLT) 
        It is a project developed as part of the environment cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), financed by MOST and jointly implemented by the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGLAS),participating African countries and the Lake Tanganyika Authority (LTA) with overall coordination and technical support from UNEP/ROA.

    2010-2014, ‘Water Quality and Ecosystem Monitoring And Demonstration Of New Waste Water Treatments’
        It is a project under the framework of Memorandum of Understanding between MOST and UNEP, implemented by NIGLAS, executed by the China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC) and the Regional Office for Africa (ROA)/UNEP. The study area involves the Lake Tanganyika Basin and other selected African countries.

    2013-2015, ‘Water Environment Protection and Sustainable Land Use in the Great Lake Watersheds of East Africa’
        It is a project funded by China-Africa Center for Research and Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CACCAS), and implemented by NIGLAS.
